Baseball America's updated ten top Rangers prospects

Baseball America has released their 2026 top ten Rangers prospects. If you want to check out their article, it is linked here. In the article, it highlights who has the best tools in the system and the projected lineup for the Rangers in 2029.

Top Ten Prospects:

1.) Sebastian Walcott

Sebastian Walcott headlines their rankings which is no surprise, he is consistently ranked in the top ten prospects in all of baseball across different rankings. He is still one of the most impressive prospects in baseball due to his young age and the results that he gets.

He also claims the best infield arm and best power hitter tools in the system. He can still grow into his height, so he could add more power and projects to. Due to his arm strength, he could work his way into a corner outfield spot depending on how quickly he comes up as Seager is holding down shortstop right now.

2.) Caden Scarbourgh

Scarbourgh is definitely the biggest riser in the Rangers system this year due to his impressive numbers. He is a guy that can slot in the middle of the rotation with the ability to be a No.2 starter at the big league level.

He has the best fastball and slider tools in the farm system, giving him a nasty duo of pitches for hitters. If you want to know more about him, there is a profile about him on the website, linked here.

3.) Gavin Fien

The Rangers' 2025 first round pick slots in here. Fein has not lit the world on fire in the minor leagues with just a slash line of .220/.267/.608 through his first ten games.

However, the flashes are there and he is young at just 18-years-old, so he has time to get it going and a lot of potential.

4.) Josh Owens

Owens was the team's third round this past year and is probably the most intriguing prospect in the entire system.

Owens is a two-way player coming out of high school. He did struggle on the offensive end with only a 0.83 batting average and 11 strikeouts with no walks.

He was better on the pitching side with four scoreless innings only allowing one unearned run and one hit with a walk to strikeout combination of 6-3.

He was listed as the best athlete in the system and it is easy to see why.

5.) Jose Corniell

Corniell had a great minor league year coming off Tommy John that cost him his 2024 season. He posted a 1.89 ERA in 13 games between the Frisco Roughriders and the Round Rock Express.

Those results earned him a taste of big league action where he struggled with 16.2 ERA in 1.2 innings with the Rangers. He is still a good pitcher and it will be exciting to see how he is managed between the minor leagues and the Rangers.

6.) AJ Russell

Russell was the Rangers' second round in 2025. He has not pitched at all for the team as he recovers from internal brace surgery from his time at Tennessee.

He starred there in 2023 when he was a reliever and has an interesting fastball that could grade out highly.

7.) David Davalillo

Davalillo was another prospect that had a really good year. He had a 2.44 ERA in 107 innings with 126 strikeouts. This was between Hickory and Frisco.

The Rangers value him so much that they moved him up to the 40 man roster to protect him from the rule 5 draft.

Baseball America gives him the best control tool in the system and the stats back it up as he only allowed 28 walks.

8.) Devin Fitz-Gerald

Fitz-Gerald was probably the biggest rising hitter in the system this past year. He posted an impressive slash line of .302/.428/.910 between rookie A and Hickory.

Baseball America calls him the best hitter overall and the guy who has the best strike zone discipline. We have a profile on him on the website, link is here.

9.) Winston Santos

Santos didn't pitch due to a stress injury in his back, when he returned he struggled with a 6.75 ERA in 17.1 innings.

This isn't a call to slam the panic button as we should wait to see more from Santos after his injury and he has shown success in the past to earn this ranking.

10.) Yolfran Castillo

Castillo posted a solid slash line of .258/.315/.667 in 88 games across Rookie ball and Hickory.

Those are good numbers for the 18-year-old as he is starting to figure it out. He is also 6'3 while weighing 165 pounds and will grow into his body more.

Baseball America highlights his defensive ability naming him as the best infielder defender.

Conclusion

I do like the list from Baseball America and think that they did a good job. They are high on the Rangers 2025 class which is great to see and they could be bigger players for the team.

The Rangers don't have the most stacked system, but they do have promise with Sebastian Walcott leading the way and some intriguing prospects behind him.
