The Prospect Times extends its congratulations to C/INF Beycker Barroso of the Texas Rangers' Low-A Down East affiliate for being named the Carolina League Player of the Week for June 3-9 a couple of days ago.
Barroso delivered an outstanding performance, hitting 9-for-16 (.563) with 2 home runs, a triple, a double, 9 RBIs, 2 stolen bases, and 2 walks over 4 games.
Demonstrating his versatility, he made starts at first base (2), catcher (1), and third base (1). Notably, he achieved a career-high 4 hits on Wednesday at Salem (4-4, HR, 3B, 3 RBI, BB) and a career-high 6 RBIs on Saturday at Salem (2-5, HR, 6 RBI).
It was indeed an excellent week for the 21-year-old from Venezuela.Barroso originally signed with the Texas Rangers as a non-drafted free agent on November 5, 2019.
His performance this season between the ACL Rangers and the Down East Wood Ducks has been remarkable. He is currently slashing .319/.468/.596 with an OPS of 1.064, including 2 home runs, 13 RBIs, 9 walks, 14 strikeouts, and 3 stolen bases.
