Christian Lopes promoted to Triple-A Nashville.
Somehow his promotion slipped by me until I was looking at the box score for the Nashville Sounds game. I realize that we don’t cover all the promotions in the Rangers farm system as it’s hard to do with just a handful of contributors. Since we are local to the RoughRiders I do like to cover the promotions of each player. It’s kind of a big deal when we’ve spent a good chunk of time at games and writing about them.
Christian Lopes, 26, has been one of those names that I’ve seen quite a bit (not just because I’ve seen him in person). He’s made an impact on quite a few games. Lopes has hit 8 home runs, knocked in 32 and has worked 39 walks. His average is .259, .367 on-base percentage, .418 slugging for a .785 OPS.
Lopes was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 7th round of the 2011 draft. He signed a minor-league league deal with our Rangers after the 2017 season and played with Round Rock in 2018. He had a career-high 12 home runs and drove in 52. His previous high for RBI was in 2013 with 66 while playing in Single-A.
Sounds
In his first game with the Sounds, Lopes went 2-3 with an RBI and 2 walks. His AVG is .667 with 1.800 OPS.
