Cody Freeman stole the show for the Round Rock Express on July 27, 2025, crushing three home runs in an 8-1 rout of the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners). The third baseman became just the 10th player in Express history to hit three homers in a single game.
Big-League Taste
Freeman’s big game comes on the heels of his MLB debut with the Rangers on July 18, 2025, against the Detroit Tigers, where he pinch-ran for Kyle Higashioka and scored on a Corey Seager two-run double. In four big-league games, he went 1-for-7 (.143/.143/.286/.429) with his first MLB RBI before being optioned to Round Rock on July 25 when Sam Haggerty was activated. Back in Triple-A, Freeman showed his power in a big way.
Cody's 3-HR Game Recap
Hitting: Freeman got the Express rolling with a solo homer in the first for a 1-0 lead. The Rainiers answered in the bottom half, tying it 1-1 when Samad Taylor doubled, Leo Rivas walked, Tyler Locklear was hit by a pitch, and Leody Taveras grounded out to score Taylor.
In the third, Blaine Crim’s double and Justin Foscue’s double gave Round Rock a 2-1 edge, followed by Freeman’s second homer for a 4-1 lead.
His third blast in the fifth, a first-pitch shot to left, pushed it to 5-1. Frainyer Chavez’s pinch-hit single in the eighth scored Billy McKinney for a 6-1 lead, and Trevor Hauver and Richie Martin added RBI singles in the ninth for the 8-1 final.
Pitching: RHP Trey Supak started on the hill for the Express, tossing 4.1 innings and allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout on 67 pitches (46 strikes).
The bullpen—RHP Aidan Anderson, LHP Robby Ahlstrom, RHP Josh Sborz, RHP Joe Barlow, and RHP Craig Kimbrel—was lights-out, holding the Rainiers scoreless on two hits with no walks over the final 4.2 innings.
Freeman’s epic game at Cheney Stadium has Rangers fans pumped for him. He finished 3-for-5 with 3 HR and 4 RBI. Keep it locked on The Prospect Times for more updates on Freeman and Rangers prospects.
