When college baseball preseason polls came out last season, Texas A&M found itself ranked # 1 in most preseason polls and on the cover of Baseball America. Michael Early entered into season number one as the Aggies new coach, and the Aggie fan base had big expectations.

Everything was downhill from there. Injuries were a large part of the equation. Texas A&M finished 30-26 (11-19 in the SEC), and unranked. They were on the outside looking in when the post season began.

Last week Perfect Game released its Preseason Top 25. Nine SEC teams were ranked. Texas A&M was not one of them. The SEC is full of talented teams every year. A SEC team has won the last six College World Series.

The news is not all bad for the Aggies. Two players were named to the Perfect Game Preseason All-American Team. Chris Hacopian and Caden Sorell were both named 2nd Team All-Americans.

Texas A&M actually has four players in the top 50 on MLB's Top 100 Draft Prospects for 2026.

Chris Hacopian, SS ranked # 16: Hacopian transferred to Texas A&M from Maryland after last season. He hit for a .375 AVG, .502 OBP, 1.158 OPS and 14 HRS for the Terrapins.

Caden Sorrell, OF ranked # 20: Sorrell only played 26 games last season due to injury. When he played, he hit for a .337 AVG, .430 OBP, 1.219 OPS and 12 HRS.

Gavin Grahovac, 3B ranked # 26: Due to having shoulder surgery 6 games into the season, Gavin Grahovac missed most of the 2025 season. In the 2024, Gavin hit for .289 AVG, .390 OBP, .987 OPS and 23 HRS.

Shane Sdao, LHP # 45: Shane Sdao missed all of last season due to elbow surgery after getting injured in the 2024 Super Regional versus Oregon. In 2024 he was 5-1 with a 2.96 ERA in 20 games, mostly out of the bullpen.

That list is made of college eligible and high school players. The Aggies had more players in the top 50 than any other SEC program.

Another familiar name to Aggie fans on MLB's Top 100 Draft Prospects is Jorvorskie Lane JR. Jorvorskie is the son of former Texas A&M running back Jorvorskie Lane Sr. and is ranked # 48 on MLB's list. He has been compared to Andrew McCutchen in the past.

Lane Jr. transferred from O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth to Grapevine for the upcoming high school baseball season. Although he is a projected first round pick, Jorvorskie is committed to Arkansas.

Texas A&M will begin non-conference play on February 13th vs Tennessee Tech at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies will be part of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field starting on February 27th.
