Devin Fitz-Gerald Profile
Devin Fitz-Gerald is a name that Texas Rangers fans should get to know. He was a fifth round pick in the 2024 draft and he has performed well in his first minor league season.
He did deal with hamstring issues that delayed his debut in 2025, but didn't seem to slow him down as he produced a good year.
His Tools
His tools are all pretty solid across the board with his hit tool being the one that stands out the most at 55. So it is slightly above average according to the grading system.
His power comes in at 450, with his run being at 45, his arm at 50 and his fielding at 50. So all of his tools are sitting around average to slightly below average. He has the archetype of jack of all trades, master of none.
His 2025 season
Like I mentioned before, Fitz-Gerald's season was a bit delayed due to injuries, but once he was healthy, he impressed.
He played between two levels, rookie ball and single A with the Hickory Crawdads. He spent the majority of his time at rookie ball with 31 games played and in those games he hit .318 with six home runs and 19 RBIs. He also walked more than he struck out with 17 walks to 15 strikeouts. He also had a .423 on base percentage and .542 slugging percentage in rookie ball.
Those stats did come down as he adjusted to single A. In those ten games, he slashed .250/.442/.281 with no home runs and one RBI. This shouldn't worry fans too much as he is a young player who is getting his first taste of professional baseball and he has shown that he has had success in other levels.
Fitz-Gerald was placed on the IL in July due to a should injury he sustained while driving for a ball in the infield.
Outlook
Fitz-Gerald is not expected to make his debut until 2028, so there is a lot of time for him to be able to grow. He projects to be a player that will hit for a solid average and not a ton of power. So if he does make it to the MLB level, expect him to hit anywhere from 13-20 home runs a year. He is still a player that Rangers fans should be excited about.
