Evan Carter & Wyatt Langford make MLB top 10 OF prospects list

MLB Pipeline released it’s list of the top 10 outfield prospects in baseball. Not surprisingly, both Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford made the list.

They also recently made Baseball America’s top 100 list and Baseball Prospectus top 101 list. MLB Pipeline will release their top 100 prospect list tomorrow (Friday, January 26th). Sebastian Walcott also made both lists.

Evan Carter (2)

Evan Carter is just about on every top prospects list out there. He won’t be on them for long since he’s widely expected to be breaking spring training with the team.

His brief stint in the majors was ridiculously impressive. We saw a little bit of everything from his stellar defense to his power potential to his patience at the plate. There’s a reason one of his nicknames is ‘Full Count’ Carter.

In his 21 regular season games he put up a bWAR of 1.6 and hit 5 home runs in 62 at bats. It’s almost like he is a five-tool player.

Wyatt Langford (3)

The Texas Rangers drafted Wyatt Langford in the 1st round (4th overall) in the 2023 draft. I’m not sure that I have seen a prospect fly through the system like he did. He went from the Arizona Complex League (ACL) to Triple-A Round Rock. He was not fooled at any level.

His batting line was .360/.480/.677/1.157 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI. He also walked more than he struckout (36/34).

The Rangers extended him an invite to Major League Spring Training. That doesn’t guarantee that he’ll make the team out of spring training but he very well might.

Pitchers and catchers report on February 14th, 2024 (Valentine’s Day).
