Round Rock, TX – March 30, 2024 – Triple-A baseball is back! The Round Rock Express (0-1) dropped their season opener to the Space Cowboys (1-0) by a score of 4-2 in front of 10,193 fans at Dell Diamond last night.

Express starting pitcher Owen White struggled early, surrendering three runs in the first two innings. He allowed another run in the 5th inning, bringing the score to 4-0 in favor of the Space Cowboys. White pitched four innings, giving up four hits and four runs (three earned) with two walks and six strikeouts.

White’s line: 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 6 SO, 79/50 strikes.

Out of the pen: Cole Winn pitched two scoreless innings, striking out the side in his first inning. But he has allowed a single and HBP between the strikeouts.

The Express offense remained quiet for much of the game, mustering only five hits total. However, they mounted a late rally in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Davis Wendzel drew a hit-by-pitch to lead off the inning, followed by a double from Matt Duffy that put runners on second and third with no outs.

With two outs, Sandro Fabian drove in two runs with a double, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Derek Hill then reached base on a hit-by-pitch, putting the winning run on base for Justin Foscue. Unfortunately, Foscue’s line drive was snagged by the opposing pitcher for the final out of the game.

Despite the late rally, the Express were unable to complete the comeback, dropping their season opener.

The series continues tonight at Dell Diamond with a first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. RHP Jack Leiter, the Rangers # 6 prospect, is set to make his Triple-A home debut.
