It took the Frisco RoughRiders 113 games to get their 60th win of the season. The RoughRiders won 7-4 against the Corpus Christi Hooks and move to 60-53 on the season.
They sit 2.5 games behind the 1st place Midland RockHounds in the 2nd half of the season with 25 games left to play.
Left-hander Avery Weems got the start for the RoughRiders yesterday. The Hooks countered with right-hander Adrian Chaidez.
For Weems, it was his 1st start since July 16th. Weems pitched 4 innings, allowing two runs on one hit, two walks and five strikeouts. He threw 73 pitches/41 for strikes.
The Hooks were the first to find the scoreboard. They scored two runs in the bottom of the 3rd.
The RoughRiders scored three runs in the top of the 4th from a three run triple off the bat of Miguel Aparicio and they wouldn’t give the lead back.
The RoughRiders added a run in the top of the 5th when Blaine Crim hit an RBI-single scoring Aaron Zavala, who was just activated off the 7-Day IL.
Kellen Strahm scored in the top of the 6th when Jonathan Sprinkle uncorked a wild pitch.
Blain Crim added another rbi in the top of the 9th with another single. Jax Biggers also had an RBI-single making the score 7-4.
Out of the pen
Tai Tiedemann (5-2, 5.68) pitched the top of the 5th. He allowed one run on one hit (HR) and struckout one. He was credited with the win.
Grant Wolfram (4.86) pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one run on two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Grant Anderson (2.85) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out four. He earned his fifth save of the season.
