Frisco’s Bats Silenced by Midland on Sunday Night
RHP Jose Gonzalez tossed a quality start for the RoughRiders and reliever Wilian Bormie topped out at 100 MPH

On Sunday Evening it was the red hot Roughriders with RHP Jose Gonzalez on the mound to take on Yunior Tur and the Midland Rockhounds in hopes of completing a sweep and being .500 in the 2nd half.
Last time the Riders faced Tur he only lasted 1.2 IP surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 BB.

Things got off to a rocky start. Midland struck quick against Gonzalez as they would hit a double, single, then another double to make it 1-0 in the first with 2 on and no outs.
Gonzalez would limit the damage as only one more crossed the plate on a force out to SS Walcott which he threw to 3rd to get the lead runner and then finish the inning off with a strikeout and a grounder to 2nd baseman Jax Biggers.
In the 3rd inning the RockHounds top of the order would continue to see Gonzalez well as the 1-2 would both get singles making them 4 for 4.
Dickey would then shop one to 1st which was tuned for a double play leaving one on and 2 out for Tommy White who would single into center giving Midland a 3-0 lead.
The RoughRiders simply wouldn’t have an answer for Tur as the Righty went 5.2 IP 1H 2BB 0R and 6K. Frisco simply couldn’t handled the heat today as they had his 95+ MPH fastball blowing right by them and would hit it off the end off the bat if they caught up to it. It was a complete 180 from his last outing vs Frisco.
Gonzalez would finish his day after 7IP with 6H 3R 5K and 0 BB. All 6 Hits would come via the top 4 hitters in the lineup while he shut down 5-9 hitters as they went 0-14 in the game. Despite a rocky start Gonzalez settled in and pitched a Quality game doing his best to keep the Riders in the game.
This start tied his career-high in innings pitched in a game - which have all come this year.
Frisco would bring in RHP Wilian Bormie and would throw a great inning striking out 2, walking 1 and topping out at 100 MPH.
Ultimately the bats simply couldn’t get going and Frisco would lose 3-0 only able to muster a single hit and 4 walks on Sunday night.
Despite going 9-2 in their last 11 this loss is still a stinger for Frisco has they still sit 7 games behind The Amarillo Sod Poodles and are 3 games below .500 on the 2nd half of the season.
The story of the night was Frisco not working the counts and having problems with the fastball, the over swings, the lateness of the ABs. They’ll need to find it again real quick as they will head down to Corpus Christi to face the Hooks which is a team who has been struggling as of late so it will be a keen opportunity for them.
