The Hickory Crawdads struggled mightily with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-11, and fell 2-1 to the Augusta GreenJackets in 10 innings. The Crawdads committed 4 errors—more than their 1 run scored—with catcher Ben Hartl unfortunately responsible for all 4 (3 throwing errors and 1 pickoff). Despite the miscues, Hartl drove in Hickory’s lone run with a sacrifice fly.

Easley and Porter Keep It Close

Starting pitcher J’Briell Easley delivered a solid 4 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Reliever Brock Porter followed with 2 scoreless innings, issuing 1 walk and striking out 3, keeping the GreenJackets’ offense in check and giving the Crawdads a chance to rally.

Late Collapse in Extras

Reliever Jake Jekielek (L, 1-2) took the loss, pitching just 1/3 of an inning and allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run, and 1 walk. The Crawdads’ defensive lapses and inability to capitalize offensively led to their defeat in a tightly contested game.

Game 3 Preview

The Hickory Crawdads aim to rebound in Game 3 of this 6-game series against the Augusta GreenJackets. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM tonight.
