The Hickory Crawdads struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-9 and leaving two runners stranded on first and second with two outs in a critical moment. Maxton Martin was called out on strikes on a pitch at least 4 inches outside, sealing a 3-2 defeat to the Columbia Fireflies (Kansas City Royals affiliate).
Osorio and Cabrera Provide Offensive Spark
Hector Osorio drove in both of Hickory’s runs, going 1-for-2 with a 2-RBI single. Yeremy Cabrera shone, going 3-for-2 and adding his 6th stolen base of the season, but the Crawdads couldn’t capitalize on their chances to overtake the Fireflies.
Perry Battles on the Mound
Starting pitcher Kamdyn Perry (L, 0-2) worked 4 innings, allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, and recording 2 strikeouts. Despite his efforts, the Fireflies’ timely hitting proved too much for the Crawdads to overcome.
Game 2 Preview
The Crawdads look to bounce back in Game 2 of this 6-game series against the Columbia Fireflies. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM tomorrow night.
