The Rangers have acquired right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut in a trade with the Rays for a player to be named later (PTNBL). Ian Gibaut, 25, made his Major-League Debut this season on July 12th. In his debut he pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, 2 walks and he struck out 2.
He had solid minor-league numbers this year between High-A (Charlotte Stone Crabs) and Triple-A (Durham Bulls). In 2 innings with the Stone Crabs his record was 0-1 and allowed 6 unearned runs. He walked 1 and struck out 1.
In Triple-A , had a 3.48 earned run average in 10.1 innings. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, 10 walks and struck out 16. The walks are high and he will need to work on his control and limit the walks.
The Rangers assigned him to Triple-A Nashville. We may see Arlington later this year coming out of the pen.
