Jack Leiter Ties Career-high In Strike Outs

Round Rock, TX – Despite a strong performance by Jack Leiter, the Round Rock Express fell to the Oklahoma City Baseball Club 7-1 on Friday night.

The wind was blowing out to LF at 11 mph early in Round Rock last night and in the 1st inning Jack Leiter (L, 1-1) struck out swinging the 1st hitter on 4 pitches 2 96 mph 4 seam FB and 97.7 MPH 4 seam FB! Then on the 5th pitch of the game he threw a 97 4 Seam Fastball inside to the OKC hitter and he hit it out at 106 mph to LF for a solo Homer!

In the top of the 2nd Leiter’s first pitch was a 80 mph curveball that was hit at 104 mph out to left center field for a 2-0 lead. Two pitches later after a 97 mph 4 seam that was called a ball the next pitch a 85.2 mph slider went out to left center field for a 3-0 lead.

We move to the Top of the 6 with OKC leading 3-1. The lone run for the Express came on a balk that brought in Dustin Harris, who was the hitting star for the Express going 2-for-4.

Leiter still on the mound got a flyout for the 1st out then got his second out on a called strike 3 on a 96.2 mph 4 seam FB. The last 3 pitches he threw tonight were 97, 96, 4 seam FB and a strike 3 swinging on a 82 Curveball for his 10th strikeout of the night! Jack went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs, 6 hits, ZERO walks, 10 strikeouts, 83 pitches – 53 strikes.

Leiter’s 10 strikeouts match a career-high in strikeouts for him. The last time he struckout 10 batters was May 17th, 2023, against the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

The Express had only six hits tonight. Two from Dustin Harris who’s has a .350 AVG. Sandro Fabian went 1/4 and has a .410 average.

Game 5 of this 6 game series is tonight with first pitch set for 7:15.
