On a day filled with excitement as the Texas Rangers secured another walk-off win over the Oakland Athletics, this time a 6-4 final, highlighted by Josh Jung’s three-run homer off closer Mason Miller in the bottom of the 10th, there’s even more reason for Rangers fans to celebrate.
Jacob deGrom is one step closer to returning to the mound for Texas, as he delivered another strong rehab start, bringing him closer to rejoining the team for the season’s final stretch.
deGrom took the mound for the Round Rock Express today at Dell Diamond, facing off against the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, for the second time.
The two-time Cy Young winner was dominant once again, showing the elite form Rangers fans hope to see soon in Arlington. His final line for the day was impressive:
- 2.2 IP
- 1 H
- 1 BB
- 5 SO
- 1 groundout
- 1 flyout
- 1 WP
- 43 pitches (30 strikes)
- Fastball topped at 99.7 MPH
This latest rehab performance adds to the excitement of deGrom’s return. In his three rehab starts so far, deGrom has logged 6.2 innings, allowing only 3 hits, 1 run, and 1 walk while striking out 10 batters.
While the season may not have gone as planned for the defending World Series champions, deGrom’s return to the mound will give the Rangers and their fans a positive note to close out the season.
What’s next for Jacob deGrom
deGrom is scheduled for another rehab outing this Saturday (Sept 7th) with reports indicating that his next stop will likely be with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.
