Jacob deGrom Named AL Comeback Player After 30 Starts for Rangers
Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the Players Choice Awards AL Comeback Player of the Year after making 30 starts and throwing 172.2 innings.
Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the Players Choice Awards American League Comeback Player of the Year. The recognition comes after the veteran starter made 30 starts for the Rangers. That's something that almost no one thought would happen.
deGrom pitched 172.2 innings, accumulating 37 walks and 185 strikeouts. The 172 2/3 innings is the most he has thrown in a single season since he tossed 204 innings in 2019.
Contract and Career History
DeGrom, 37, recently completed the third year of his five-year, $185 million contract with the Rangers, which he signed before the 2023 season.
Before joining Texas, he spent his entire career with the New York Mets. While with the Mets, deGrom won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2014 and back-to-back National League Cy Young Awards in 2018-19.
The right-hander was also named a Gold Glove finalist earlier in October.
