Kumar Rocker made his debut last night for AAA Round Rock, and to say he was good would be an absolute understatement. After showcasing his stuff in Frisco and having a microscopic ERA of 0.46, he picked up right where he left off with the longest outing of his season.
Rockin Around In Round Rock
His first Triple-A opponent would be the OKC Dodgers who would have a rehabbing Yamamoto starting for them but would have Kumar Rocker seamlessly steal the show as he blew away his opponents with ease.
The 6-5 245lb righty was untouchable Wednesday night as he generated 15 whiffs, all but 4 coming from his Slider. His Fastball topped out at 99.9mph and averaged 98.2mph over the 24 he threw Wednesday night.
This kid is emerging as a front-runner to be a top guy in 2025 and honestly, I think could even be called up to pitch in the Majors this September with Scherzer seemingly done for the 2024 season. He’s been otherworldly since coming back from Tommy John and reaching 100 mph in the process. He’s had a marvelous go and he’ll be so exciting to keep an eye on as he gets closer and closer to being called up.
Crim’s Offensive Dominance
Blaine Crim was seeing Beach Balls last night as he went 4 for 4 in the 5-4 victory Launching 2 Homers along the way, one into deep center and the other being an absolute laser down the line in left. Crim is now batting .386 since July 1st with a slash line of .462/.646/1.107. The righty is red hot and with the Rangers season on the ropes, he could very well be a player who gets the call in September to get him some at-bats vs Major League pitching. The Rangers‘ offense has been lackluster as of late and are not producing well out of the DH spot so if Crim could provide some pop from there it would be a much-appreciated add to the Lineup in September and give Manager Bruce Bochy and GM Chris Young something to think about going into the 2025 Season.
Strahm walks off the Night
With Matt Duffy on 3rd and Jax Biggers on 2nd, Kellen Strahm Hammered a 3-2 pitch into deep Center Field just out of the reach of the CF Pages. Both Runners would come around to score and secure the 5-4 Victory over the OKC Dodgers and send the Round Rock faithful home happy!
Round Rock is now just a .5 game out of 2nd place behind OKC and 4 Games out of first in the Pacific Coast League East with 22 games left in the Triple-A Season.
