Welcome to another edition of Minor-League round up December 9th. We gather links to the most recent stories about Minor-League baseball and it them in one place for you.

## State Island Yankees close their gates file suit

To start off with, the [New York Post reports](https://nypost.com/2020/12/03/staten-island-yankees-fold-sue-mlb-ny-yankees/amp/?ref=theprospecttimes.com) that the Staten Island Yankees have closed their gates and are suing their former club and MLB. If I were a betting man, (I'm not) I'd bet that there will be more lawsuits filed by other teams that don't survive minor league contraction.

\*We've got a growing list of the [MiLB teams](https://theprospecttimes.com/milb-contraction-list-of-minor-league-affiliates/) and their affiliates.

## We should find out the 120 MiLB team affiliate list today

Speaking of affiliates, Baseball America [posted](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlbs-decision-on-120-minor-league-teams-for-2021-is-imminent/%3famphtml?ref=theprospecttimes.com) that MLB should be sending out noticed to the minor league teams about their selections.

## The Rule-5 draft is coming up on December 10th.

Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com has a [good write-up](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mlb.com/amp/news/rule-5-draft-2020-preview.html?ref=theprospecttimes.com) detailing the order of the Rule-5 draft. The order is the same as the draft, the reverse order of the 2020 standings.

I am curious to see how many players will be taken in the Minor-League phase of the Rule-5 draft.

Continuing with Rule-5 draft coverage, [cbssports.com](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-rule-5-draft-2020-17-names-to-know-including-former-top-five-pick-pair-of-yankees-prospects/amp/?ref=theprospecttimes.com) has a post about 17 names to know. There are a couple of former Yankees prospects on the list.

## Ottawa Titans-Frontier League

For any fans interested in Independent League Baseball, ballparkdigest.com has a post on the name selection of the [Ottawa Titans](https://ballparkdigest.com/2020/12/06/new-for-2021-ottawa-titans/?ref=theprospecttimes.com), a team in the Frontier League, who will start play on the 2021 season.

## An MiLB owners story

At [seattletimes.com](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/seattle-minor-league-baseball-owners-still-standing-after-facing-covid-19-shutdown-and-possible-contraction/%3famp=1?ref=theprospecttimes.com) there is a post about Peter Davis, who purchased a short-season minor league team, the Missoula PaddleHeads in 2019.

## Umpire course by Jen Pawol

herald-review.com has a interesting post about one of the two female umpires in the minor leagues, [Jen Pawol](https://www.google.com/amp/s/herald-review.com/sports/baseball/watch-now-minor-league-baseball-umpire-and-decatur-resident-jen-pawol-made-the-most-of/article%5F86ab5d62-6fbe-5842-a6f4-4b3dae7d18be.amp.html?ref=theprospecttimes.com). Jen decided to use the list season to write an umpire course.
