The Texas Rangers made a couple of more roster moves today.
Nick Goody activated from IL
Right-handed relief pitcher Nick Goody was activated from the 10-day IL for back spasms. Goody has pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 runs - 2 earned, three walks and two strikeouts. He has given up one home run so it all adds up to a 1.750 WHIP. I'll need to see him a few more times before I make a judgment on his effectiveness. I'd still rather see DeMarcus Evans and can't understand why he isn't in this Rangers bullpen. Unless there is an injury or something else we don't know about.
Ian Gibaut optioned to the alternate site
I dont really want to be negative but I do agree with this move. If I were the GM I would have released him and did what I mentioned above; bring in Evans. Gibaut pitched 12.1 innings and allowed 10 runs, 9 of those were earned. He walked 9 and struck out 14 so he does have some swing and miss stuff but the results weren't there. Last year, he also pitched 12.1 innings and allowed 7 runs while walking 8 and striking out 14. I wonder if the Rangers are holding onto him to see if they can trade him.
The Rangers play their final game against the Athletics tonight. Kolby Allard (0-2, 7.82) takes the mound for the Rangers. Mike Fiers (3-1, 5.81) takes the mound for the Athletics.
