Owen White is the lone Ranger in the Futures game
Owen White, was named as a participant in the Futures Game on July 8th that will take place in Seattle.
This opportunity is a great one for White, as it provides a chance to showcase his talent on a big stage. He will be able to pitch against some of the best prospects in baseball and rub elbows with the game’s current stars. The degree of competition at the game is intense, and it is sure to be a memorable experience.
White recently broken into the big leagues when he made his MLB debut earlier this season – and he had a good debut.
He began the year in Double-A, pitching for the Frisco RoughRiders. In 12 games there, he had 2-3 win-loss record with a 3.51 ERA.
White just made his first Triple-A start with the Round Rock Express. He pitched 5 innings against the Sacramento River Cats. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, 3 walks and struckout 4. The Express won that game 8-3, however, Owen didn’t factor into the decision.
White is no stranger to high-pressure situations. He has been able to remain calm and composed against some of the best hitters in the minors. He also helped the RoughRiders take home the Texas League Championship in 2022.
Owen White made his MLB debut earlier
White made his MLB debut on June 13, 2023 against the Angels out of the bullpen. He pitched two innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk and two strikeouts. He was originally called up due to the blister that developed on Jon Gray’s finger and the Rangers were desperate for pitching. Calling up White at the time made sense because he is on the 40-man roster. After several seasons in the minors, White’s hard work and dedication finally paid off when he was called up to the big show.
Conclusion
Owen White, the Texas Rangers top pitching prospect, has been soaring through the rankings over the last few seasons.
Now more people will get the chance to see White in action on the mound in Seattle. We can’t wait.
