Round Rock RHP Jack Leiter, the 2021 1st round pick (#2 overall), has wasted no time making his mark in Triple-A, earning PCL Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of April 22nd-28th.

The 24-year-old hurler got his professional career off to a rocky start in his Major League debut against the Detroit Tigers, allowing seven runs on eight hits in just 3.2 innings. However, Leiter bounced back in a big way in his first Triple-A start against Salt Lake City on April 25th, tossing six dominant innings and surrendering just one hit while striking out eight batters.

This impressive performance suggests that Leiter’s early struggles in his big league debut were merely a blip on the radar and that he is quickly adjusting to the rigors of professional baseball. The 24-year-old appears poised to make a significant impact for the Round Rock Express and could potentially earn another shot at the major leagues sooner rather than later.

Overall, Leiter has logged 20.1 innings across four appearances (three starts) for Round Rock, compiling a 1-1 record with a solid 2.66 ERA. He has struck out 33 batters while limiting opponents to a meager .167 batting average and a WHIP of just 0.89, ranking second in the PCL in WHIP and third in ERA. Leiter’s dominance is further illustrated by his league-leading opponent batting average of .167.

Congratulations to Jack Leiter for being named AAA PCL Pitcher of the week for April 22-28!
