On July 22, 2025, the Rangers’ farm teams—Frisco, Round Rock, Hub City, and Hickory— all took losses. The Rangers also made a new signing and had a few draft signings.

As usual we'll start with Double-A Frisco.

The Frisco RoughRiders are in Wichita this series as they face the Wind Surge (Twins).

LHP Mitch Bratt started on the mound for the RoughRiders, but it was a rare off-day for the lefty. In his roughest start of 2025, he went five innings, giving up 7 runs on 11 hits, including 4 home runs, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts on 72 pitches (52 strikes, 72%).

Reliever Larson Kindreich (4.02 ERA) took over in the sixth, but the struggles continued. He surrendered 4 runs on 5 hits, 3 of them homers, with just 1 strikeout in one inning, as the Wind Surge bats stayed red-hot.

RHP Josh Sborz pitched — who is on a rehab assignment for the Rangers— pitched 1.2 scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit, struck out two, and threw 29 pitches (18 strikes), showing he’s rounding into form for a return to Texas.

RHP Josh Mollerus pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing one run, on one hit, two walks and one strikeout.

At the plate, the RoughRiders were led by — Alejandro Osuna (.292). Yes, he was sent to Frisco. He had the only multi-hit game going 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases.

Round Rock Express (AAA)

The Express lost 12-7 to the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners). RHP Trey Supak got the start and was tagged with the loss for the Express.

It really wasn't a fantastic day for the pitching staff. Supak pitched 2.1 innings giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits, 2 walks and 3 SO. He also hit a batter.

The Express' lineup had 7 runs on 14 hits. They had 5 batters that registered 2-hit games: Dustin Harris, Blaine Crim, Alan Trejo, Trevor Hauver and Richie Martin.

Hauver hit his 6th HR of the season.

Express' record: 45-49

Hub City Spartanburgers (A+)

The Spartanburgers are facing the Greenville Drive (Red Sox). Wayland Baptist legend, Arturo Disla, hit a 2-run HR in the top of the first inning to immediately get the Spartanburgers on the board. It was his 8th HR of the season.

SS John Taylor went 0-for-1 but worked 3 walks. Casey Cook had the other hit for the Spartanburgers - going

LHP Mason Molina got the start for the Spartanburgers and pitched five strong innings. He allowed one run on 2 hits and struckout 6 while throwing 65 pitches — 46 for strikes. He generated 13 swing & misses.

RHP Mailon Felix (3.45) pitched a scoreless frame giving up one hit and 2 walks.

The Spartanburgers ended up losing 4-3 on a walk-off HR off the bat of Johanfran Garcia.

LHP Dalton Pence also fired a scoreless inning lowering his ERA in High-A to 1.20 in 15 innings.

Spartanburgers record: 46-44

The Crawdads lost 6-1 to the Augusta GreenJackets (Braves).

RHP Caden Scarborough took the mound for the Crawdads, battling through a tough outing. He gave up two runs on three hits, with one walk and four strikeouts, tossing 48 pitches (32 strikes) and generating five swing-and-misses.

The Crawdads’ bats couldn’t find a spark, managing just one run on a sac-fly from Antonis Macias in the third.

Crawdads record: 50-40

Roster moves

The Texas Rangers signed RHP Carl Edwards Jr to a Minor League deal. He is likely to slot into the rotation.

I found it interesting that the Rangers sent OF Alejandro Osuna to Frisco.

Here is our Rangers draft signing tracker. A few players announced their signings with the Rangers via their Instagram accounts.
