Rangers announce 2023 coaching staffs for affiliates
On January 18th, the Texas Rangers announced the 2023 coaching staffs for each of their Minor League affiliates. There seems to be more turnover and new faces than has been seen in previous seasons as the team looks to get on track with player development to be able to sustain long-term success in the seasons to come.
For starters, Triple-A Manager, Matt Hagen and Double-A Manager, Jared Goedert, each left in January to pursue opportunities outside of baseball. Goedert led the Frisco RoughRiders to their first Texas League Championship since 2004. From my understanding, their departure came as a bit of a surprise. The assumption is that they both would have been back otherwise.

The Rangers organization has been criticized in recent years for their lack of development and inability to sustain success, and these changes to the coaching staffs are a clear indication that the team is looking to address those issues.
The Rangers hope that with new leadership and a renewed focus on player development, they will be able to produce more major league-ready talent and help the team to compete for years to come.
