Blaine Crim – Player of the Month
The 27-year-old 1st basemen really found his swing in July slashing a whopping .453/.561/.656. Going up to bat and getting on base better than once every 2 at bats is an astonishing stat in today’s game. He also added in 9 XBH driving in 15 along the way. Another stat to highlight is that he walked 17 times and only struck out 11. If the bat stays hot in August I wouldn’t be shocked if we see him as a September call-up this year.
Mitch Bratt – Starter of the Month
To say the 21-year-old was dominant in July would be an understatement. In the 4 games he pitched for the Hickory Crawdads, he tallied 18 and a third innings pitched. He would only allow 1 Earned Run in that span getting him an eye-popping .49 ERA in July. He showcased his command by only allowing 3 walks while punching out 26. He caught the eyes of the organization as they promoted him to Double-A Frisco to start in August. Hopefully, we’ll see him continue to get better for the lefty and he turns into something fantastic.
Grant Anderson – Reliever of the Month
The Righty has been bouncing between the Rangers and Triple-A all year long so to see him perform well in July for Round Rock is a confidence boost. The Righty came on 6 times in relief for Round Rock Tallying 6 and two-thirds innings pitched. He didn’t allow a single run in those innings, only walking 1 and striking out 14. When you have a K/9 ratio of 18.9 you’re doing something right. Hopefully, Grant can build off this superb July and make his case to be a mainstay in the bullpen for next year.
Frainyer Chavez – Defender of the Month
When it came to flashing the leather, there was no one better than Chavez. Playing around the Diamond at 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Short he had 55 chances across 16 games in July and never faltered once. While playing around the Diamond he was also a part of 9 Double plays. He’s been up and down this year with Frisco and Round Rock, most recently up at Round Rock where he’s gotten hits in every game along with flashing the leather.
It was a great month for these 4 who look to keep on being key parts of their teams and earn promotions in the Organization. The Awards show all the effort and hard work they’ve done this year and this month.
