Rangers announce roster for Spring Breakout game

Kasey Jarvis

Earlier today the Rangers released their roster for the Spring Training Spring Breakout game on Saturday March 15th vs The Giants

The Rangers will feature 17 of the Rangers current top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline including 7 of the top 10.

The big names include Rangers No. 1 Overall Prospect Sebastian Walcott who’s been really raising even more eyebrows over the course of camp and seemed to have Rangers 2B Marcus Semien take him under his wing for camp and whom many people think will make the jump at least to AAA by the end of the 2025 season.

Another notable hitter for Texas will be OF Alejandro Osuna who had a breakout year last season and seems to get better each chance he gets in the box. Manager Bruce Bochy even named him as his surprise of the camp saying how the lefty had impressed him the most and how he already had a swing that can compete in the Big Leagues.

But perhaps the most eye opening one on the roster has been Emiliano Teodo. The young righty has been lighting up radars this spring topping out at 101 MPH and raising the question if he could be an option for the back end of the bullpen in 2025. Though the Rangers have said the plan is for him to continue his development as a starter, you can never rule anything out in the Rangers hopes to go back to playoff contenders.

The Spring Showcase has been really great way to showcase the young talent coming to each team by letting the future stars shine bright. On top of the mentioned prospects Rangers fans will get a look at 2024 1 Round Pick Malcolm Moore and 2024 CWS Most Outstanding player Dylan Dreiling who really showed his offensive prowess with the Vols during their CWS Championship run.

2 more names to watch out for is is 18 year old Paulino Santana who was an on base and bag swiping machine in his first year in the Rangers farm system and 20 year old Anthony Gutierrez who’s bat the Rangers are hoping will go back to what it was when he was in the Arizona league as an 18 year old hitting .308

Overall this should be a great thing for Rangers fans and baseball fans alike to get a glimpse of the future of the Rangers and all the teams around the league.

Be sure to catch the game at 7:05 PM on Saturday March 15th. You don’t want to miss this showcase of the young talent that’s bound for the big leagues.
