Texas Rangers fans have reason to celebrate as prospect, infielder Esteban Mejia, stole the spotlight by being named the Arizona Complex League Player of the Week title for May 6-12.
At just 19 years old, Mejia displayed consistency and skill, securing multiple hits in four out of five games. His remarkable .667 batting average (10-15) was accompanied by an outstanding tally of six doubles, six runs, and three walks, with just one strikeout. Such stellar statistics catapulted him to the forefront of the ACL leaderboard, ranking first in doubles, total bases, and extra-base hits, while also sharing the top spot for hits and ranking third in runs scored.
Combining his performances across 12 games with the ACL Rangers and Down East (A) this season, Mejia boasts an impressive slash line of .400/.520/.650/1.170 at the plate.
His contributions include one home run, seven doubles, six runs batted in, and a commendable tally of ten walks against 13 strikeouts.
Mejia’s journey with the Texas Rangers organization began in 2022 when he signed as a non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic.
