This was announced yesterday but the Rangers have signed Jerad Eickhoff to a minor league contract so they officially win the Cole Hamels trade. I just had to throw that in there.
Eickhoff never made it to the majors with the Rangers but he did with the Phillies after the Hamels trade. In his 5 years with Phillies he had a career record of 21-30 with a 4.15 earned run average. His best years were in 2015 when he made his MLB Debut and in 2016. In 2015 he went 3-3 with a 2.65 earned run average in 51 innings pitched. He started 33 games in 2016 and went 11-14 with a 3.65 earned run average in 197.1 innings. His FIP in those years were 3.25 and 4.19.
With the Rangers likely to make a couple of moves that would open a spot in the rotation, he could see the mound at Globe Life Field instead of at the alternate site.
