One of the Rangers' newest two-way prospects, Seong-Jun Kim, made his professional debut today with the DSL Rangers Red.

The 18-year-old, signed out of South Korea for a $1.3 million bonus, took the mound to start the game. The right-hander worked one scoreless inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

He was replaced by fellow right-hander Gilberto Lopez in the top of the 2nd, who dominated in his own right, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out seven. Lopez's stellar outing lowered his season ERA to 3.12.

At the plate, Kim served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3. He reached base in his first plate appearance on a fielding error, then struck out swinging in his second, and grounded out to short in his third.

The DSL Rangers Red went on to win the game 8-0 over the DSL Phillies Red, improving their record to 35-17. The offense was highlighted by a grand slam from catcher Francisco Perez in the sixth inning, his seventh home run of the season, which put the Rangers Red up 7-0.
