Kumar Rocker made his Second appearance for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday night where he faced the Las Vegas Aviators
Although it wasn’t as dominant as his first start, he was still plenty dominant in the outing showcasing his abilities.
He’s continued to make a name for himself throughout this entire rehab stint recovering from Tommy John in May of last year. Rocker peppered the strike zone once again topping out at 99.3 in the process showcasing that powerful Fastball/slider combo. The Righty let up a homer for the first time since his first rehab start on a hanging slider. The continuance of Rocker showcasing he has MLB-ready stuff while peppering the Strike zone can almost guarantee him either a September Call-up or an Opening Day roster spot after spring next year.
Rough day at the office
Matt Whatley and Dustin Harris would both hit long balls of their own for Round Rock’s first 2 runs. Then in the 2nd Whatley would give them the lead in the 7th with an RBI sac-fly. Aiden Anderson would come in hoping to have a better outing than his previous one on September 1st where he allowed 7 Runs in less than an inning of work. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the 27-year-old’s night and surrendered the game-tying and game-winning runs in the 7th on a Cooper Bowman 2 RBI Single.
Rocker on the verge
I firmly believe that we aren’t far from seeing a Kumar Rocker MLB debut. If the Playoff race gets any farther for the Rangers I’d almost guarantee that we see him get 2-3 starts this year to get him ready to be in the rotation for 2025 and beyond. This is one of the best pitching prospects we’ve seen and he has the stuff to be a bonafide All-Star.
