Round Rock Express: Balanced Attack Secures 7-2 Win
The Round Rock Express delivered a well-rounded performance, combining nice pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Reno Aces 7-2 at Dell Diamond.
Dane Dunning’s Strong Start
Dane Dunning (W, 1-0) set the tone, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, and recording 5 strikeouts to earn the victory.
No-Hit Relief Effort
The bullpen trio of Luis Curvelo, Joe Barlow, and Codi Heuer was lights-out, combining for 3.2 innings of no-hit relief to shut down Reno’s offense and preserve the lead.
Early Run Sets the Stage
Evan Carter got things started in the first inning, hitting a 93 MPH sinker on the first pitch with a 76 MPH exit velocity, stealing second base (his 4th steal of the season), and scoring on an RBI groundout by Justin Foscue.
Sixth-Inning Surge
The Express offense exploded in the 6th inning, sparked by Blaine Crim’s 2-run, 455-foot home run with a 106 MPH exit velocity—his 4th of the season. Tucker Barnhart and Alan Trejo followed with back-to-back RBIs, further extending the lead.
Late Homers Seal the Deal
In the top of the 8th, Tucker Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, hit a solo home run (his 2nd). In the top of the 9th, Kellen Strahm added another solo home run (his 2nd), putting the finishing touches on the 7-2 scoreline.
