Sam Huff excelled in the Surprise Saguaros 4-2 win over the Salt River Rafters today. He finished the game going 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. He reached base four times.
The Saguaros handed the ball to right-hander Zach Haake (Royals) to start the game. He pitched a solid 3.2 innings and gave up one hit, issued two walks and struckout three.
Left-hander Jacques Pucheu pitched 2.1 scoreless innings out of the Saguaros pen. He walked one and struckout two and earned the win.
Spencer Torkelson (Tigers) was lifted from the game in the bottom of the 4th due to an injury which doesn’t seem to be serious.
Neither team scored until the top of the 6th inning when Seuly Matias (Royals) grounded into a force out and Drew Mount (Reds) scored.
In the top of the 7th Drew Mount reached on a fielding error and shortstop Nathan Eaton (Royals) scored to make it 2-0.
Back to Sam Huff. He singled in the top of the 7th to score Donovan Casey (Nationals) to make it 3-0. This game marks Huff’s first three hits in the Arizona Fall League but he hasn’t played in every game. In his first three games he went 0-11. He is now 3-15 and he’s got his average up to .200 with a .568 OPS.
Michael Siani steals home
Donovan Casey stole 2nd and Siani stole home in the top of the 9th when Drew Mount struckout swinging. The steal of home made it 4-2.
Eudrys Manon (Rangers) earned his 2nd save of the AFL but not before making a nail-biter out of it. The Rafters loaded the bases in the bottom of the 9th, but he was able to escape the jam unscathed.
The Rafters scored their two runs in the bottom of the 8th.
Pucheu earned the win (1). Manon with the save and Connor Grey (1-1, 1.50) took the loss.

Baseball America reported that all three of Sam Huff’s hits yesterday were hit with an exit velocity of over 100. In fact, they were between 107-109 mph.
