Spartanburgers Overcome Early Deficit for Comeback Win

The Hub City Spartanburgers found themselves in an early 4-0 hole but battled back to secure a victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Fifth Third Park. 

Early Struggles

Starting pitcher Adrian Curry struggled, lasting only 1.1 innings and allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and recording 3 strikeouts, putting the Spartanburgers in a 4-0 deficit early in the game.

Bottom 4th Sparks the Comeback

The Spartanburgers began their comeback in the bottom of the 4th when Arturo Disla doubled, driving in Anthony Gutierrez to get the team on the board.

Fifth Inning Surge

In the 5th inning, the offense continued to chip away. Theo Hardy singled to drive in Gleider Figuereo, and Julian Brock followed with a hit. Anthony Gutierrez then singled, bringing in Hardy, helping the Spartanburgers close the gap and eventually take the lead.

Larson Kindreich (S, 2) closed out the game, pitching 2 innings, allowing 1 walk, and striking out 4 batters to earn his second save of the season.
