Major League Baseball announced today that Frisco RoughRiders pitchers Emiliano Teodo and Winston Santos have been selected to participate in the 2024 All-Star Futures Game, an event eagerly anticipated by Texas Rangers fans. This prestigious game, which is part of MLB All-Star Week, will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington on Saturday, July 13 at 3:10 PM CT.

The Futures Game is an annual showcase of the best prospects in Minor League Baseball, offering a glimpse into the future stars of the MLB. This year, the excitement for Rangers fans is palpable, with two of their promising pitchers earning the honor to represent the American League team.

Emiliano Teodo, 23, a native of the Dominican Republic, signed with the Rangers in 2020 and has since made a name for himself with his blazing fastball that frequently hits triple digits.

Teodo was named the Arizona Fall League’s Reliever of the Year last fall after leading the league with five saves. In those eight appearances (totaling 11.0 innings), he didn’t allow a single run, surrendered just three hits, struck out 19 batters, and posted an impressive 0.55 WHIP.

This season with the Frisco RoughRiders, Teodo has continued to impress as one of the best starters in the Texas League. Over 13 starts, he has compiled a 4-2 record with a remarkable 1.87 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched, while his 82 strikeouts tie him for second in the league.

He is listed as the Rangers’ No. 14 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Joining Teodo is Winston Santos, the Rangers’ No. 15 prospect, who made his Double-A debut for the RoughRiders on June 28th after a strong showing with High-A Hickory.

At Hickory, Santos had a 6-3 record with a 2.80 ERA in 64.1 innings pitched. Since being signed in 2019, Santos has consistently demonstrated his prowess on the mound.

Adding to the excitement, the Rangers’ top prospect, infielder Sebastian Walcott, has also been named to the Futures Game roster.

Currently playing for the High-A Hickory Crawdads, Walcott has slashed a line of .235/.336/.395/.731 with 6 home runs and 26 RBIs, showcasing his potential as a future star for the Rangers.

Both Teodo and Santos will pitch for the American League team, managed by none other than Adrián Beltré, the legendary Hall of Fame third baseman. The AL staff is stacked with former Rangers greats, including Elvis Andrus, Nelson Cruz, Prince Fielder, Derek Holland, and more, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and excitement for Rangers fans.

The last time two current Frisco RoughRiders players were named to the Futures Game roster was in 2022, when pitcher Jack Leiter and outfielder Dustin Harris received the honor.

This year’s selection of Teodo, Santos and Walcott is a testament to the Rangers’ strong farm system and the bright future that lies ahead for the franchise.
