Today is the deadline for Rule-5 eligible players to be added to the roster for protection from the draft on December 12, 2019. The official deadline for protecting players is 5 PM PT and the Rangers do not plan on adding additional players.
If you need a break from the news of the day, source tells me that Rangers will be adding just these four players to the 40-man roster today: Sherten Apostel, Demarcus Evans, Tyler Phillips and Leody Taveras.

The Texas Rangers are adding four names to their roster for protection. They are Sherten Apostel, DeMarcus Evans, Tyler Phillips and Leody Taveras. None of these names surprise me at all. What surprises me is the names we don’t see; Joe Barlow and Michael De Leon. With the absence of Joe Barlow, some have speculated that there may be a trade looming.

The Rangers also added Kyle Cody, 25, RHP to the roster and Shortstop Anderson Tejeda, 21. The roster is now set at 40 with these additions. Someone will have to be DFA’d or traded if the Rangers sign a free agent.
