The Texas Rangers' farm system had an eventful Sunday, featuring a season finale, a dramatic wild-pitch walk-off, and a couple of high-scoring games.
DSL Rangers Red Season Ends
The DSL Rangers Red concluded their season with an 8-5 defeat at the hands of the DSL Athletics in the DSL Pool Play.
The game was notable for the performance of 18-year-old dual Pitcher/DH Seong-Jun Kim, who started on the mound. Kim pitched 4 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 6, while also surrendering one home run.
At the plate, he went 0-for-2. For the season, Kim made one pitching appearance, striking out 2 in 1 inning. Hickory Crawdads Win on a Wild Pitch
The Hickory Crawdads continued their hot streak, winning their fourth game in five outings with a dramatic 9-8 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats (Cleveland affiliate).
The game was tied 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth when Gavin Fien hit his first A-Ball double. He advanced to third on a groundout by Yolfran Castillo, and with two outs, he scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Leading the offense were 20-year-old outfielder Marcos Torres, who went 2-for-3, and Yeremy Cabrera, who went 0-for-3 but drew a walk and stole his 42nd base of the season on 45 attempts.
The newest addition, 18-year-old SS and 2025 1st-round pick Gavin Fien, went 1-for-5 with the decisive double. In his first two games, Fien is batting .300 with 3 hits, a triple, a double, and 3 RBIs in 10 at-bats.
Hub City Spartanburgers Win High-Scoring Affair
The Hub City Spartanburgers defeated the Greenville Drive 9-8 in a game where neither starting pitcher made it out of the first inning.
Hub City starter RHP Kolton Curtis struggled with control, issuing four straight walks to begin the game before being pulled after just 0.1 innings.
His final line was 0.1 IP, 3 runs (all earned), 5 walks, and 0 strikeouts, raising his ERA to 5.74.
The Drive starter RHP Austin Ehrlicher was taken out of the game due to an apparent blister prior to throwing an actual pitch.
RHP Adrian Rodriguez came in with the bases loaded and limited the damage, allowing one run before striking out the next two batters.
Rodriguez pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief, giving up only 1 hit and striking out 3.

At the plate, the Spartanburgers scored 9 runs on 9 hits
Antonis Macias doubled in a run in the bottom of the second for the first RBI for the Spartanburgers.
They added another run in the 3rd from a Gleider Figuereo double. Then the Spartanburgers had a 4-run 4th inning highlighted by Dylan Dreiling's 2-run HR - his 10th HR of the season.
Maxton Martin and Cal Stark each had a two-hit game.
Adonis Villavicencio (W, 4-3) earned the win, and Mailon Felix (S, 2) picked up the save. The Spartanburgers now stand at 59-60 on the season and 28-26 in the second half, leading the Greenville Drive by one game.
Frisco RoughRiders Fall in Series Finale
The Frisco RoughRiders lost to the Corpus Christi Hooks, 12-5, at Whataburger Field, splitting the six-game series 3-3.
Frisco started the scoring with an RBI double from Luis Mieses in the first inning, but Corpus Christi responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame against starter Jose Gonzalez.
Gonzalez (L, 1-2) pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. He was also charged with a hit-by-pitch. The Hooks extended their lead to 5-1 in the second on a rehab RBI single from Yordan Alvarez.
The RoughRiders chipped away at the lead, with Keith Jones II hitting an RBI single in the fourth and Jax Biggers adding another in the sixth to make it 5-3. However, Corpus Christi blew the game open in the seventh with a seven-run inning, including a two-run double from Alvarez and a three bases-loaded walks.
Jones II and Biggers each added another RBI in the eighth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. For the Hooks, Alonzo Tredwell (W, 2-0) earned the win, allowing 2 runs over 5 innings.
Noteworthy: — Sebastian Walcott collected three singles and stole his 27th base. — Keith Jones II extended his hitting streak to five games and is now batting .350 (7-for-20) with a .409 OBP and .450 slugging percentage during that span.
The RoughRiders' season record is now 62-57 (24-27 in the second half), and they trail the Amarillo Sod Poodles by 8 games.
Round Rock Express Win Series Finale
The Round Rock Express defeated the St. Paul Saints 11-5 in a game with an attendance of 8,496.
RHP Caleb Boushley (W, 2-1) earned the win for the Express.
Round Rock jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam from C Omar Narváez (2). The E-Train extended their lead to 9-0 after two innings, with Abimelec Ortiz (6) hitting a 400-foot homer in the second. That gives him a HR in back-to-back games.
The Saints had a four-run fifth inning, but Round Rock responded with two more runs in the sixth to cushion their lead to 11-4. St. Paul scored one more run in the sixth, but the Express bullpen held on to secure the 11-5 victory.
Key moments: First Inning: SS Richie Martin tripled in Dustin Harris, 3B Alan Trejo singled in Martin, and C Omar Narváez hit a grand slam.
Second Inning: 1B Abimelec Ortiz hit a solo home run, and DH Cooper Johnson singled in two runs.
Sixth Inning: LF Trevor Hauver had an RBI single, and Alan Trejo scored on a double play.
The Round Rock Express improve to 63-61.
