MLB Pipeline dropped their latest rankings for all 30 MLB farm systems, and the Texas Rangers landed at No. 26. The fall stings for Rangers fans.

The Rangers’ farm system rankings show a downward trend from midseason 2024 to current.

  • 2025 preseason: 19th
  • 2024 midseason: 26th
  • 2024 preseason: 7th
  • 2023 midseason: 10th

The AL West farm system rankings stack up like this:

  • Mariners: 3rd
  • Athletics: 14th
  • Rangers: 26th
  • Angels: 27th
  • Astros: 29th

What’s Holding Them Back?

The Rangers’ low ranking largely stems from a lack of position player talent. While pitching prospects have been trending upward despite injuries, the trade deadline deals didn’t help. Losing pitchers like Kohl Drake (#5), Mitch Bratt (#9), David Hagaman (#13), Mason Molina (#27), and Skylar Hales (#28) hurt, but even keeping them wouldn’t have boosted the ranking much.

Bright Spots in the Draft

The Rangers’ 2025 draft offers hope. First-round pick Gavin Fien is now the No. 2 prospect in the system, while second-rounder AJ Russell checks in at No. 5, per MLB Pipeline’s latest rankings.

Looking Forward

The Rangers’ farm has work to do, but the draft adds promise. The Prospect Times will keep you posted on their climb.
