Texas Rangers Players and Prospects Winter League Action
Several Texas Rangers players and prospects gained some reps in offseason winter leagues.
The Dominican and Puerto Rican regular seasons have concluded, with playoffs/Round Robin currently underway in some circuits.
A couple of pitching prospects continue their work in the ongoing Australian Baseball League.
Ezequiel Durán Performs Well for Aguilas Cibaenas
Infielder Ezequiel Durán, a Texas Rangers utility player and first-year arbitration-eligible major leaguer, posted a strong line for the Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican Winter League, batting .338/.399/.463 with a .862 OPS in 36 games.
He added 2 home runs, 22 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, 13 walks and 20 strikeouts. Durán figures to be in contention for the Rangers starting role at second.
Arturo Disla's Limited Dominican Action
1B/DH Arturo Disla, 25, appeared in 4 games for the Aguilas Cibaenas, hitting .154/.154/.231 with a .385 OPS and one double.
Disla spent the full 2025 season at High-A Hub City (the Rangers' High-A affiliate), where he hit 9 home runs. In 2024, he belted 19 home runs combined between Hickory and Down East.
Abimelec Ortiz Excels in Puerto Rico
First baseman Abimelec Ortiz, a Texas Rangers prospect recently added to the 40-man roster, played 35 games for Gigantes de Carolina in the Puerto Rican Winter League, slashing .229/.400/.373 with a .773 OPS.
He contributed 4 home runs (including a grand slam), 20 RBIs, 32 walks, 16 strikeouts and 4 stolen bases in the now-finished regular season.
Alejandro Osuna Strong in Mexico
Outfielder Alejandro Osuna, performed well in 17 games for Charros de Jalisco in the Mexican Pacific Winter League, batting .339/.486/.411 with a .897 OPS.
He drove in 5 RBIs, stole 8 bases, drew 15 walks and struck out 9 times without hitting a home run.
Pitching Prospects in Ongoing Australian League
Two Rangers prospects took the mound in the Australian Baseball League for the Brisbane Bandits, with the regular season still underway until Monday, January 19.
Right-hander Kamdyn Perry pitched in 7 games (6 starts), logging 25.2 innings with an 8.06 ERA, 15 walks, 13 strikeouts and a 1.909 WHIP.
Fellow right-hander Kai-Noa Wynyard, born in Australia, appeared in two games for the Bandits. In his first outing, he threw 1 inning with 0 runs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Through his two games he has a 20.25 ERA in 1.1 innings.
Cooper Johnson in Dominican Winter League
Catcher Cooper Johnson played 13 games for the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League, hitting .222/.300/.259 with a .559 OPS.
Notable Mention: Luisangel Acuña's Historic Game
In other winter league news, former Rangers prospect Luisangel Acuña (now with the New York Mets) made history by hitting 4 home runs in a single game in the Venezuelan Winter League.
These winter leagues allow players to gain important reps as preparations ramp up for the 2026 season.
