Texas Rangers prospect LHP Josh Trentadue promoted to Double-A Frisco

The Texas Rangers have promoted LHP Josh Trentadue from High-A Hub City to Double-A Frisco, giving the 23-year-old southpaw a chance to shine. Trentadue is slated to make his Double-A debut tonight, July 30, 2025, at Riders Field against the San Antonio Missions (Padres). He'll also be facing the sweltering 99 degree Texas heat.

Trentadue Had a Dominant Run in High-A

Trentadue tore through the High-A level with the Hub City Spartanburgers in 2025, posting a sparkling 1.15 ERA over 54.2 innings. He racked up 71 strikeouts (11.7 K/9, matching his 2024 rate) with 18 walks and a stellar 0.84 WHIP. His walk rate improved from 3.7 per 9 innings last season to 3.0 this season, showing better command.

Breakout Season

After a brief 3.1 innings in 2023 and a 2024 season with Low-A Down East (70.2 innings, 4.46 ERA), 2025 has been Trentadue’s breakout year. Drafted by the Rangers in the 14th round in 2023, he’s proving he’s a prospect to watch.
