Spring training is almost here, so is the start of the college baseball season. More and more each season, college baseball is supplying a strong line of talent to the MLB Draft. The 2026 draft will be no different.
On MLB's Top 100 Draft Prospects list for the 2026 MLB Draft, there are 20 prospects in the Top 100 from the SEC. From Paul Skenes to Wyatt Langford, look around the big leagues and you will see plenty of SEC players who have spent very little time in the minors. The 2025 MLB Draft saw 23 SEC players drafted with the first 75 picks.
How dominate has the SEC been? Going back to 2006 only three times has a SEC team not been in the College World Series Finals. Eleven of those years a SEC team has won it all, including the last 6. Only twice in those last six years has the runner up been a non-SEC School. LSU has won it all two of the last three years.
Need more proof about the power of the SEC? In the offseason, the San Francisco Giants hired Tennessee Vols coach, Tony Vitello. Vitello is the first head college baseball coach to go straight to the big leagues as a manager.
