Trentadue Makes Double-A Debut, Ortiz Homers in Riders Loss
Trentadue’s Double-A debut and Abimelec Ortiz’s hot bat highlight Frisco’s battle with Missions.

Frisco — LHP Josh Trentadue, freshly promoted from High-A Hub City, made his Double-A debut for the Frisco RoughRiders on July 30, 2025, in sweltering 101-degree heat at Riders Field. A dedicated 4,250 fans showed up to see the 23-year-old southpaw take on the San Antonio Missions (Padres).
Trentadue’s Line
Trentadue battled through 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with no walks and 2 strikeouts. He generated 8 swing-and-misses on 53 pitches (37 strikes), showing his stuff despite the rough welcome to Double-A.
At the plate
The Missions struck first with Moisés Gómez’s two-run homer (his 6th) in the first for a 2-0 lead.
Abimelec Ortiz answered with his 15th homer, a solo shot to right, in the bottom half, cutting it to 2-1.
Albert Fabian’s sac-fly RBI in the second put San Antonio up 3-1. In the fifth, Cam Cauley’s RBI single and a Missions error on his stolen base attempt let Luis Mieses score, tying it 3-3.
Missions Pull Away
San Antonio regained the lead with Marcos Castañon’s RBI single in the sixth (4-3), followed by Brandon Valenzuela’s RBI single in the seventh and Devin Ortiz’s two-run double in the eighth, pushing it to 7-3. Abimelec Ortiz’s RBI single in the eighth made it 7-4, but Frisco couldn’t close the gap.
Pitching Notes
Missions starter Enmanuel Pinales (6-5) earned the win, allowing 3 runs over 6 innings. Frisco reliever Daniel Missaki (0-3) took the loss, giving up 1 run in 1 inning. Missions reliever Tyson Neighbors secured the save.
The RoughRiders are now a game under .500 for the season at 48-49 and are 10-19 in the second half.
