Two of the Texas Rangers’ prospects, RHP Cole Winn (Pacific Coast League) and OF Braylin Morel, (Dominican Summer League) were named Players of the Week for the week of July 17-23.
Cole Winn, 23, the Texas Rangers first-round pick in 2018 (15th overall), won his only outing of the week on July 19, allowing Zero runs on one hit and one walk while striking out six in five innings out of the pen. He is 3-0 with a 3.26 ERA in six relief appearances since moving to the bullpen. For the season, he is 4-5 with a 7.10 ERA in 18 games. He has 63 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched and a 1.933 WHIP.
Braylin Morel, 17, from Yamasa, Dominican Republic, went 5-for-14 (.357) with three home runs and four RBIs in four games. He had a two-homer, two-RBI game on July 20. For the season, Morel is batting .327/.431/.636/1.067 with five home runs and 23 RBIs in 28 games. He has 17 stolen bases.
