What should the Rangers do if they buy and or sell

If the Rangers are selling- If they end up falling out of the playoff picture and out of contention by the deadline I think they should sell off the guys on expiring contracts. Guys like Tyler Mahle, Hoby Milner, Chris Martin, Patrick Corbin and maybe Shawn Armstrong will garner some trade interest. I definitely think if the Rangers sell Tyler Mahle, Hoby Milner and Patrick Corbin need to be in different uniforms I think. The Cubs I think would have some interest in Mahle, they are in need of starting pitching with their strong offense. As well as the Mets will be looking for some starting pitchers at the deadline( I just saw a tweet from Jon Heyman while writing this). Any competing team is interested in starters, and bullpen arms at the deadline. I also think that if the Rangers aren't in the race and Adolis Garcia is playing better and closer to what we know he can do we should possibly trade him. Let me say it again I would only be okay with them trading him if he is playing well. There are mostly likely some teams out there they are interested in his services if he is playing well. The Detroit Tigers could be a team that could possibly use him, also I think the Rays could be interested. With new ownership possibly coming in soon maybe they want to spend money. Once he eventually becomes a free agent I just don't see the Rangers re-signing him with Sebastian Walcott being a possibility in right field in the future. Now back to the Rangers arms that will receive interest, I see teams like the Cubs, Mets, Yankees, Tigers, and maybe the Giants. I can see the Phillies and Rays possibly being interested in Hoby Milner or Chris Martin. I could also see teams being interested in Shawn Armstrong. If they Rangers are not in a competitive position by the end of July then they need to sell some arms that are on expiring contracts to add some depth to the farm system that is a little weak in my opinion.
If the Rangers are buying- First up I think we all know that the Rangers do need sure closer, and there are some teams that are going to sell that have some closers that could catch the interest of the Rangers. Two guys that come to mind pretty quick for me who could fill that role are David Bednar and Kyle Finnegan. If had a choice between the two I would go Bednar because he does have an extra year of control while Finnegan would just be a rental, and David Bednar's contract is cheap for a closer. He is getting paid 5.9 million this year which can help us stay under the luxury tax. Bednar started his career with the Padres then became a Pirate in 2021 where he became a reliable high leverage arm for them eventually getting the closer role. Bednar did struggle mightily last year, but because he was tipping his pitches. Bednar is a guy I think we could get without giving up too much of the farm. Trevor Megill is another guy to look at, he has a big fastball and has done pretty well for the Brewers once he took over after they traded Josh Hader, but Milwaukee could end up in the race and not want to trade him. The Rangers should go after not just a closer but at least one or two more bullpen arms so they aren't just relying on the same three or four guys getting high-leverage innings. Anthony Bender of the Marlins who has a career ERA at 3.22 has been good in high leverage this year for Miami, he has 2 extra years of control and is on a cheap contract which fits our needs and can be a piece for next years bullpen with all of the guys we have on expiring contracts. I also won't be surprised if the Rangers go after a bat to create more depth in this lineup if they start hitting.
I know it has definitely been a disappointing season so far for the fans, and I am very disappointed in them as well I had high hopes for this team because on paper this lineup is top 5 in baseball, but they just haven't hit like it. The pitching has been way better than I expected I don't think anyone expected them to be this good. Regardless of the outcome at the end of the season the Rangers will be in a position to spend this offseason for sure because the luxury tax penalty won't be a worry for them. If this team does nothing the rest of the year just know that CY will make changes, he won't put up with another year of this he will do everything in his power to get them back to the playoffs.
