The Spokane Indians season started today, Friday June 14th. They are the short season Single-A affiliate of our Texas Rangers.
Their 2019 roster was just recently released and there are 6 players that returned from the 2018 season.
They opened the season in Vancouver against the Vancouver Canadians at Scotiabank Field. As you may have guessed the Canadians are the Single-A short season affiliate of the Blue Jays.
**We have no pictures that we own to use but hopefully will someday.**
Spokane Indians at Vancouver Canadians
The Spokane Indians win the season Opener by a final of 9-1. The Indians continued the trend of good pitching at the lower levels of the Rangers farm system. They got solid pitching from right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco. Reports are that he was hitting 98 MPH already on his fastball and he threw.
Vanasco already hitting 98 on the gun here in the first inning. Adrenaline for sure, but @Rangers really like the velocity they’ve seen out of the young righty.

His line was 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB and 3 SO on 32 pitches- 20 for strikes.
The Indians also got scoreless innings from right hander Nic Laio and Theo McDowell. McDowell walked a batter and struck out 1 in his inning.

Ryan Anderson was the only one in the line-up with multiple hits. Cristian Inoa and Luis Asuncion each had multiple RBI’s with 2 each.
We can expect some of the Rangers 2019 draft picks to be assigned to Spokane soon.
