Around the Farm 4/20/19
I was able to cover the RoughRiders game in person so I won’t include them. You can read about it here.

Nashville Sounds (4-11)
The Sounds have the worst record out of all the Rangers Minor-League affiliates.
Taylor Hearn (1-3, 4.05) got the start for the Sounds and the loss even though he only allowed 3 runs. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. He threw 99 pitches and 57 of those were strikes.
Kyle Bird (18.00) who was just optioned back to Triple-A from the Rangers pitched 1 inning. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 1.
Line-up
The 1-5 batters all had at least 1 hit and 6-9 of the order didn’t get one hit.
Zack Granite and Eli White each went 1-5 with a strikeout.
Willie Calhoun went 2-4 with a run and a strikeout. He is hitting .271 on the year.
Matt Davidson went 2-4 with a run and is hitting .245.
Andy Ib??ez went 2-3 with a run and a walk. He is hitting .362 on the year.
Carlos Tocci has cooled down considerably. He went 0-3 with 2 strikeouts and is hitting .222 on the year now.
Down East Wood Ducks (12-5)
The Wood Ducks beat the Blue Rocks by a final of 3-2. Noah Bremer (2.87) got the start for the Ducks. He pitched a good game, lasting 6 IP, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Emmanuel Clase (0.00) is someone we should all pay attention to. He has pitched 7 innings, walked 1 and struck out 11. His WHIP is 0.714 after facing 25 batters.
Sal Mendez (4.35) allowed an unearned run and walked 1. He got his 1st save of the season and also got his 1st error on a pick-off.
Line-up
Julio Pablo Martinez went 1-3 with an RBI and is hitting .154.
Leody Taveras went 1-4 with a strikeout. His batting average for the year is at .355.
Diosbel Arias went 2-3 with a run and is hitting .345 on the year.
Tyreque Reed went 1-2 with a run, RBI, walk and a strikeout and is hitting .231.
Yonny Hernandez went 1-4 with a strikeout. He was also caught stealing.
Hickory Crawdads (12-4)
The Crawdads beat the Columbia Fireflies 5-4. They are still in 2nd place in the South Atlantic League.
John King (1-1, 3.00) pitched 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 9 Fireflies.
Line-up
Sam Huff went 1-3 with a run, and 3 RBI. He hit his 6th home run of the year and is hitting .315. His OPS is at 1.037.
Chad Smith went 1-3 with a run and 2 RBI and a strikeout. He hit his 1st home run of the year and has a .200 average.
Huff, Gonzalez and Smith were the only ones who had hits.
