Around the Farm 4/22/2019
Thank you for joining as we go around the farm. I try to get these done on a nightly basis for release the next day but with a full-time job and two boys, sometimes it doesn’t happen. But I try my best and appreciate you following along.
Let’s get to it.
Nashville Sounds (5-13)
The Sounds were shutout 5-0 by the San Antonio Missions (Milwaukee Brewers). Corbin Burnes, the Missions starter, only pitched 3 innings and the bullpen did the rest.
Right-hander Richelson Pena (1-3, 5.25) got the start for the Sounds. He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, including 2 home runs, 2 walks and struck out 2.
Brady Feigl (1.08) pitched 1 inning and allowed an unearned run. That came from a fielding error by Nolan Fontana, his 2nd of the year.
Line-up
The Sounds only managed 4 hits the whole game.
Eli White and Willie Calhoun each had 1 hit and Zack Granite had 2 hits. He went 2-3 and is hitting .268 on the year.
Frisco RoughRiders (11-7)
The RoughRiders completed their first shutout of the year with their win over the Travelers 4-0.
Brock Burke was dealing before his blister resurfaced. He had pitched 4.2 innings and allowed only 1 hit, 3 walks. The strikeouts were plenty for him as he fanned 8. He threw 64 pitches, 38 for strikes. Let’s hope the blister doesn’t become more of an issue.
Burke left with an apparent blister. it could be a lingering issue with that curveball, but as @TepidP would say – he’s an absolute dude. https://t.co/aZ2yCAjREU

Jacob Lemoine (2-0, 0.79) picked up his 2nd win of the season after coming in for Burke. He pitched 2.1 innings allowing 3 hits but struck out 3.
James Jones (4.50) earned his 2nd hold pitching 1 inning, allowing 1 hit. He also struck out 1.
Locke St John (0.93) has been locking opposing batters down. He pitched a scoreless inning and allowed 1 hit and struck out 2.
Line-up
Charles Leblanc, Juremi Profar and Eliezer Alvarez each went 2-4 in their at bats to help the Riders win. Alvarez brought had 2 RBI’s and Brendon Davis had the other.
I’d like to point out that one of my favorites, Josh Altmann went 1-4. I think he will find his power once he gets consistent at bats.
Alex Kowalczyk also deserves a shout out. He went 1-4 with a run but is hitting .375 on the year.
Down East Wood Ducks (13-5)
The Wood Ducks had the day off.
Next up is a 3-game series against the Lynchburg Hillcats (Cleveland Indians).
Hickory Crawdads (12-5)
The Crawdads lost to the Augusta GreenJackets 5-1. The GreenJackets are the affiliate of the Giants.
Tim Brennan (1-1, 2.65) got the start for the Crawdads and pitched 6 innings. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, including 1 home run and struck out 3.
- Abdiel Mendoza (1.13) pitched 2 innings, allowing 1 runs on 2 hits, including a home run. He walked 1 and struck out 2.
Hever Bueno (0.00) was good in his inning as he struck out 1 throwing 11 pitches in the inning.

Curtis Terry went 1-4 and is hitting .258
Jose Almonte went 1-3 with a run and a strikeout.
Jonathan Ornelas went 1-2 with an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. He was also caught stealing and is batting .325 on the year.
