MLB seems to be intent on the Automated Strike Zone being implemented in MLB. It's been tested for a few years at some Minor-League ballparks and it is now one step closer to becoming a reality in MLB.

It was announced the Automated Strike Zone is now going to be used in some Triple-A ballparks, including the Dell Diamond, where the Round Rock Express play.

I'm not personally a fan of the automated strike zone for a couple of reasons.

It takes away the need for a catcher who is good at framing pitches. I think there is a beauty in that by itself and just another part of the game that will be taken away.
