Bubba Thompson and Blaine Crim powered the RoughRiders to their 51st win of the season against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The final was 4-2 in 10 innings. They now have a 51-34 record and need to be leave Arkansas with a series win to maintain a post-seasom spot. Only the top two team will play a best of 5-game series and the Division doesn’t matter.
On the mound
Left-hander Cody Bradford (5 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 7 SO, 1.74 ERA) made his 2nd start with the RoughRiders and it was a good start. He threw 82 pitches/57 for strikes.
The bullpen did their job and kept the Naturals from scoring for 5 innings.
The first one out of the pen was newly promoted Daniel Ryder (1 IP, H, BB, 2 SO). He pitched a scoreless inning giving up a hit, walking one and striking out 2. He threw 23 pitches/13 for strikes.
Noah Bremer pitched two scoreless innings. He allowed 3 hits and struckout one.
Fernery Ozuna (5-3, 4.81) shut the door on any hope the Naturals had in the final two innings. He walked one and struckout two earning the win the process.
At the plate
Bubba Thompson certainly set the table as the lead-off hitter. His line: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 SO.
Justin Foscue, who was just promoted, had an immediate impact. He went 2-5 with an RBI and struckout 2 times.
Of course, the Riders can’t win with Blaine Crim somehow contributing at the plate. It’s just what he does. He went 2-5 with his 3rd home run in seven games since being promoted. He’s got a 1.104 OPS currently.
Dio Arias (.287) seems to get a hit in every game. He went 1-3 with a walk and strikeout.
Sam Huff (.226) went 1-3 with a walk and strikeout. Josh Stowers (.215) went 2-4.
