Darwin Barney named new Nashville Sounds Manager

Today the Texas Rangers named Darwin Barney the new manager of their AA Nashville Sounds squad.

Barney, is a 34 year old Oregon native. He spent eight years in the majors with the Cubs, Dodgers and Blue Jays, retiring in 2017. He batted .246 during his career and was seventh in voting for Rookie of the year in 2011. In 2012 he was the National League’s Golden Glove winner at second base as well as winning a Fielding Bible award.

In college at Oregon State, Barney led the Beavers to back-to-back NCAA Division 1 Baseball Championships in 2006 and 2007.

This is Barney’s first managerial job.
