Round Rock, TX – With a COVID outbreak going thru the parent club creating a massive roster shuffle within the entire organization, the new look Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers) outlasted the El Paso Chihuahuas 3-2 Tuesday night to split the series at 3 games apiece.

Express 3rd baseman Josh Jung went 3-3 with a run scored while reaching base four times while Round Rock mainstay Elier Hernandez drove in 2 on his 11th home run of the season to give the Express the lead in the 6th.

Newly acquired 30 year-old RHP Buck Farmer pitched the 6th inning, his first for any organization outside of the Tigers, gave up a run but picked up the win in relief of starter Yerry Rodriguez. Rodriguez making his 3rd start for the Express went a solid 5 innings giving up only 2 hits, one being a first inning homer to El Paso RF Brian O’Grady for the only run he gave up over his outing.

Team USA Silver Medalist Ryder Ryan pitched a perfect ninth to close out the win, picking up his 3rd save of 2021.

The team has a day off on Wednesday and travels to Albuquerque to open a series on Thursday against the Isotopes.
