How SWEEP it is, UTD Comets Baseball remain perfect at home
UTD vs UT Permian Basin on Sunday March 22, 2026 - UT Dallas Comets won 19-2 to remain undefeated at home.

RICHARDSON, Texas — The UT Dallas baseball team remains perfect at home. Following the completion of their sweep and 19-2 win over UT Permian Basin, the Comets improved to 11-0 at their home park. Throughout the four-game series, the Comets outscored the Falcons 54-9.

​With the victory, UTD improves to 22-8 overall. The Comets now move into a three-way tie with St. Mary’s and UT Tyler atop the Lone Star Conference standings with 20 games left to play.

​The Comets chased Permian Basin starting pitcher Kade Adams (LHP) in the first inning as they batted around, sending 10 batters to the plate. UTD scored seven runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third, and seven in the fourth. Due to the 10-run rule, the game ended after seven innings.

UTD scored 19 runs on 11 hits while drawing 12 walks. Three Comets recorded multi-hit efforts:

  • Nico Fernandez: 2-for-4 with two RBIs; he extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
  • Gavin Barker: 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
  • Austin Wallace: 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

​Trent McCown went 0-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs, and two runs. One of his RBIs came via a bases-loaded walk. McCown also added a nice diving catch in right field.

​Shortstop Jake Amoroso went 1-for-4 with four RBIs, a walk, and a run. Designated hitter Kole Kinnison finished 0-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs, while left fielder Chris Benavidez went 1-for-1 with two RBIs, a walk, and a run.

UT Dallas starter Tobin Oler (4-1) earned the win, tossing five innings and allowing four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Kade Adams was charged with the loss for the Falcons.

Comets Bullpen

RHP Baley Ray tossed a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. Freshman Andrew Brown allowed a home run but struck out the side in his appearance.
